Carlos Alcaraz faced little resistance in his second-round match at Wimbledon, defeating British qualifier Oliver Tarvet 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. This victory follows a challenging five-set match against Fabio Fognini earlier in the tournament.

Alcaraz showed dominance throughout his first encounter with World No. 733 Tarvet, hitting 37 winners and breaking serve six times to extend his winning streak to 20 matches. Reflecting on the match, Alcaraz stated, “I have to give praise to Oliver, his second match on the Tour. I just love his game to be honest.”

The defending champion continues to make history as he became the fastest player in the Open Era to achieve 30 wins on grass after defeating Fognini. With this latest win on Centre Court, Alcaraz is poised for a third-round clash against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jan-Lennard Struff.

Discussing his approach, Alcaraz mentioned, “I found the right way to try and enjoy after every match.” He emphasized enjoyment regardless of winning or losing as key to his recent success.

Alcaraz aims to join Bjorn Borg by winning the Roland Garros-Wimbledon double consecutively and seeks a third consecutive Wimbledon title. Meanwhile, Tarvet’s journey ended despite impressive play during qualifying and moments of brilliance against Alcaraz.

Tarvet’s performance included defeating Leandro Riedi in straight sets in the first round and showcasing notable passing shots against Alcaraz. However, he struggled against Alcaraz’s skillset over two hours and 17 minutes of play.

Currently pursuing his sixth title of the season, Alcaraz’s achievements include triumphs at Roland Garros and ATP Masters 1000 events in Monte-Carlo and Rome. He also recently secured a win at The Queen’s Club for a second time.
