Carlos Alcaraz is set to compete in his third consecutive Wimbledon final after defeating Taylor Fritz. The defending champion will face Jannik Sinner, marking their second straight Grand Slam title match against each other. This matchup follows their recent encounter at Roland Garros, where Alcaraz saved three championship points to win.
“It will be an amazing final, another great battle,” said Alcaraz. “I can’t wait to play more matches against Jannik, to keep elevating our rivalry to an even higher level. I’m ready for that.”
Alcaraz leads the Lexus ATP Head2Head 8-4 and has won the last five encounters against Sinner. Reflecting on their Roland Garros match, he stated, “Honestly, I don’t think it’ll be a significant factor. Jannik is a great champion… He’ll give 100%, and the good thing is that we’re ready for that too.”
At just 22 years old, Alcaraz holds five Grand Slam titles and emphasizes perseverance as a key lesson from his Paris victory. “It was a match that taught me so much,” he noted.
Both players hold mutual respect and admiration for each other’s skills. Alcaraz praised Sinner’s backhand: “For me it’s one of the best on tour.” On Sinner’s semifinal win over Djokovic, Alcaraz remarked: “Honestly, I was a little surprised.”
Sunday’s final at the All England Club promises another chapter in their growing rivalry. Alcaraz has already qualified for the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals after reaching this year’s semi-finals.
