Carlos Alcaraz continues to make waves in the tennis world with his performance at Wimbledon 2025. By defeating Cameron Norrie in straight sets, Alcaraz has advanced to the semi-finals and increased his tally of main-draw match wins at Grand Slam events to 76. This surpasses the record of his fellow countryman Rafael Nadal, who had fewer wins after competing in the same number of majors.
Alcaraz’s achievement is notable as it exceeds the records set by members of the ‘Big Three’—Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer—across their first 18 major campaigns. However, two other ATP No. 1 Club members remain ahead of him on the Open Era leaderboard. Bjorn Borg won 78 matches across his first 18 majors, a tally Alcaraz can only match by winning his third consecutive Wimbledon title this weekend. John McEnroe holds an even higher record with 81 wins in his first 18 events.
In terms of titles after 18 majors played, Borg leads with six major trophies. Alcaraz could equal this if he triumphs at Wimbledon, where he will face Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals. Alcaraz aims to join Borg as one of the few men in the Open Era to win both Roland Garros and Wimbledon consecutively.
Currently tied with five titles each are McEnroe and Nadal, while Djokovic and Federer managed just one title each from their first 18 majors.
