Carlos Alcaraz’s recent victory at Roland Garros has drawn significant attention, not only for its dramatic conclusion but also for the historical parallels it shares with past tennis legends. In a match lasting five hours and 29 minutes, Alcaraz saved three consecutive championship points to defeat Jannik Sinner, preventing him from claiming his first Roland Garros title.

Alcaraz secured his fifth Grand Slam trophy at 22 years and 34 days old, just one day older than Rafael Nadal when he won his fifth major. This achievement echoes Nadal’s own dramatic victory over Roger Federer in the 2008 Wimbledon final, a match remembered as one of the greatest in their rivalry.

With this win, Alcaraz maintains an unblemished record in major finals, standing at 5-0. He is now just two victories away from matching Roger Federer’s initial streak of seven consecutive major final wins. Federer himself did not lose a Grand Slam final until the 2006 French Open against Nadal.

Looking ahead, Alcaraz aims to achieve another historic milestone by winning both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in consecutive seasons. Only Bjorn Borg has accomplished this feat before, achieving it three times between 1978 and 1980. Alcaraz has already claimed the Wimbledon title twice in succession, each time thwarting Novak Djokovic’s attempt to secure an eighth championship on grass.
