Carlos Alcaraz secured his fifth title of the season at the HSBC Championships, defeating Jiri Lehecka in a hard-fought final. The 22-year-old Spaniard triumphed with scores of 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-2 to claim his second Queen’s Club title, having first won it in 2023.

Lehecka, playing in his first grass-court final, competed strongly through two closely contested sets. However, Alcaraz’s performance in the deciding set was decisive. “This tournament is really special to me,” said Alcaraz. “I’m just happy to lift the trophy once again.”

The victory took two hours and eight minutes and marked Alcaraz as one of only five active players with four or more grass titles, joining Novak Djokovic, Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, and Nicolas Mahut. As he heads to Wimbledon with an 18-match winning streak—the longest of his career—Alcaraz continues to build on a successful season.

After an early exit at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami against David Goffin, Alcaraz has achieved a remarkable record of 27 wins and one loss since then. His victories include titles at Monte-Carlo, Rome, Roland Garros, and now Queen’s Club. This run has extended his lead over Jannik Sinner by 2,240 points in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin.

In Sunday’s championship match against Lehecka, Alcaraz delivered a standout moment during the second-set tie-break. Trailing behind but showing skillful play with a drop shot followed by a precise lob over Lehecka thrilled spectators.

Despite Lehecka forcing a third set after benefiting from an untimely double fault by Alcaraz at 5/5 in the second set tie-breaker—he couldn’t maintain momentum into the final set where Alcaraz dropped just two service points out of eighteen.

“It’s tough for me to find words now,” expressed Lehecka post-match while acknowledging both teams’ efforts: “Well done to Carlos and your team for doing a great job.”
