Alexander Bublik continued his strong performance on clay with a win at the Generali Open in Kitzbuehel. The top-seeded Kazakhstani defeated Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals. Bublik, who recently won his first tour-level title on clay in Gstaad, hit 17 aces and saved all three break points during their match.
“It was a really warm welcome, so thank you to all the fans who came out,” said Bublik. “I really felt great today. I’ve been playing quite well in the past months, but every match is different. I just try to take it match by match.”
Bublik’s victory over Tirante improved his record to 14-2 since reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros. His recent successes include titles at both the grass-court ATP 500 in Halle and the clay-court ATP 250 in Gstaad. In Kitzbuehel, he aims to become the third man since 2011 to win both Gstaad and Kitzbuehel titles consecutively, following Casper Ruud (2021) and Matteo Berrettini (2024). He will face fellow Kazakhstani Alexander Shevchenko next.
In other matches, Yannick Hanfmann upset second seed Sebastian Baez with a 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 victory. Hanfmann will play against sixth seed Arthur Rinderknech in his fourth Kitzbuehel quarter-final appearance.
Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Pedro Martinez 6-2, 6-2 and will meet Arthur Cazaux next. Cazaux advanced after beating Francisco Comesana and has moved up to No. 89 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings.
Thiago Seyboth Wild reached another quarter-final with a win over Roberto Bautista Agut and will face Botic van de Zandschulp next.
