Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool demonstrated resilience at Wimbledon on Wednesday, saving three match points to defeat defending champions Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten. The British duo won 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(8) to extend their winning streak to 12 matches as they advance to the semi-finals.

Cash and Glasspool have been in strong form, having secured consecutive grass-court titles at Queen’s Club and Eastbourne. In a critical moment of the match, serving at 5-6 with a score of 0/40 in the third set, Cash delivered two unreturned serves before Glasspool executed a drop volley to save a third match point. They then managed to force a Match Tie-break.

“We have learned a lot about each other and what each other needs,” said Cash regarding his partnership with Glasspool. “The confidence that we have built, especially over this grass period, really helps in those moments.”

This marks the first time Cash and Glasspool have reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon. Since making their team debut in August 2024, they have claimed five tour-level trophies together.

Their victory against Heliovaara and Patten was their third this year, improving their record in the Lexus ATP Head2Head series against them to 3-0. Next up for Cash and Glasspool is a semi-final clash with Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

“Being able to get over the line again against them speaks volumes,” said Glasspool. “We are on 12 matches [unbeaten], I have never done that in my life before.”

Currently ranked third in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, Cash and Glasspool trail second-place Heliovaara and Patten by just 575 points. They aim to make their team debut at the Nitto ATP Finals this November.

Granollers and Zeballos advanced after defeating Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski with scores of 7-6(6), 7-6(3).
