The Davis Cup is set to return next month, featuring two Group III Regional events as highlights. In June, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Skopje, North Macedonia will host the Americas and Europe groups respectively. Fourteen nations will compete across these venues for six spots in next year’s World Group II Play-offs.
The Americas Group III event will occur from June 11-14 at the Costa Rica Country Club in San Jose on indoor hard courts. The competing nations include Aruba, Bermuda, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. The format consists of two pools of four teams each. The winners of these pools will advance to the World Group II Play-offs alongside the winner of a promotion play-off between the runners-up. Teams finishing last in their pools will be relegated to Americas Group IV.
In Europe Group III, matches are scheduled from June 10-14 at Tennis Club JUG in Skopje on outdoor clay courts. Competing nations are Armenia, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. The top three finishers will move up to the World Group II Play-offs while the bottom two teams face relegation to Europe Group IV.
Additionally, during the week of June 9th, Africa and Europe will host their respective Group IV events. Luanda in Angola will hold an eight-team Africa event across two pools while Tirana in Albania hosts a seven-team European competition also divided into two pools. Both offer promotion opportunities to Group III.
Davis Cup regional action continues throughout summer with various events planned for July and August across Asia/Oceania and Africa.
