Alexandra Eala from the Philippines is set to make her debut at Wimbledon, aiming for her first Grand Slam match win against Barbora Krejcikova, the defending women’s singles champion. Eala’s journey has seen her progress from competing at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals at age 14 to playing on Wimbledon’s Centre Court.

Eala, a former junior world No. 2, clinched the US Open girls’ singles title in 2022. She then secured five titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour and reached her first Tour-level final at Eastbourne last weekend. Her development has been supported by the Grand Slam Player Development Programme, through which she has received funding four times. She was also part of the ITF-operated Grand Slam Player Development Programme Touring Team.

Reflecting on her growth as a player and person, Eala’s journey was documented in “Day in the Life: Alex Eala” filmed in 2023.
