Tallon Griekspoor overcame a challenging start at the Nordea Open in Bastad, saving five match points to defeat Italian qualifier Andrea Pellegrino. The second-seeded Dutch player struggled initially but found his form late in the match to win 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-3. “An unbelievably tough match, he really made it difficult for me,” Griekspoor commented after the victory.

Griekspoor’s next opponent will be fellow Dutchman Jesper de Jong, who defeated Vit Kopriva earlier in the day. Reflecting on their upcoming match, Griekspoor said, “We played earlier this year and I lost, so I’m definitely looking forward to some revenge there.”

In other matches, Austrian Filip Misolic advanced by defeating Elmer Moller and will face Nuno Borges next. Botic van de Zandschulp also progressed by beating Mikael Ymer and will play against Camilo Ugo Carabelli.

Luciano Darderi secured his place in the quarter-finals with a win over Elias Ymer and is set to face Sebastian Baez next.
