Jannik Sinner marks a significant milestone as he reaches 52 consecutive weeks at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings. This achievement places him among an elite group within the ATP No. 1 Club, which includes only five players who have maintained their debut No. 1 position for a full year: Sinner, Roger Federer, Jimmy Connors, Lleyton Hewitt, and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner’s journey to this milestone began on June 10, 2024, following a strong start to the season that included a title win in Halle. He further solidified his lead by claiming victories in Cincinnati and the US Open, part of a 15-match winning streak that concluded in Beijing. His success continued with wins in Shanghai and at the Nitto ATP Finals, defending his Australian Open title, and reaching the final at Rome’s ATP Masters 1000.

Despite these accomplishments, Sinner has yet to match Roger Federer’s initial run as No. 1, which lasted an uninterrupted 237 weeks from February 2004 to August 2008. Similarly, Jimmy Connors held the top spot for 160 weeks from July 1974 to August 1977.

As Roland Garros progresses—where Sinner was a semi-finalist last year—he holds more than a 2,500-point lead over Carlos Alcaraz in the PIF ATP Live Rankings. However, upcoming tournaments may impact his ranking points significantly. In June, Sinner will lose points from Halle and Wimbledon performances while Alcaraz will drop points from his previous Wimbledon victory.

Sinner’s primary challenge to maintaining his No. 1 status is expected in August when he must defend his accumulated points from four titles won towards the end of the previous season.
