Nuria Brancaccio has been named the ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month for July. The Italian tennis player, aged 25, secured two titles during what has been described as the most successful period in her career so far.
Brancaccio was nominated alongside Philip Henning, Darja Vidmanova, and Nikola Bartunkova. She received the award after winning a fan vote conducted on the ITF website and Instagram stories.
“I am very happy to have been chosen for this award and I really want to thank all the people that voted for me,” said Brancaccio.
“It has been a really good month, with a lot of matches and reaching my best ranking motivates me to keep going. I am really looking forward for what’s coming next.”
Before July, Brancaccio had not won any titles above W35 level. At W75 Bucharest, she reached the final but lost to Tamara Zidansek in straight sets. However, she did not lose another match on the World Tennis Tour throughout July.
She continued her strong performance at W50 Aschaffenburg by winning her first title at that level. Brancaccio finished the month at W75 Cordenons in Italy, where she claimed her biggest career title by defeating Veronika Erjavec 6-2 6-1 in the final.
Currently ranked world No. 163 in the live WTA rankings, Brancaccio is expected to achieve a new career-high when rankings are updated next week.
