World No. 13 Casper Ruud will join Team Europe for his fifth consecutive Laver Cup, scheduled to take place at Chase Center in San Francisco from September 19 to 21, 2025. Ruud joins a roster that includes World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, World No. 3 Alexander Zverev, and World No. 9 Holger Rune. The team will be led by newly appointed captain Yannick Noah, with two more European players yet to be announced.

Ruud has previously competed in the Laver Cup events held in Boston (2021), London (2022), Vancouver (2023), and Berlin (2024). He holds a record of four wins and two losses in the competition and recently won the Madrid Open earlier this season.

“The Laver Cup is incredible, bringing together Europe, with its rich tennis history, to take on the rest of the world,” said Ruud.

“I love representing Europe, and doing my best for the whole continent, not just my country. The team aspect is unique – getting to play alongside guys who are usually my rivals and to support each other is something we don’t experience often.

“I’m also really looking forward to playing in front of Yannick and Tim for the first time – they are a dynamic duo and it’s going to be really cool. And, I’m excited to visit San Francisco for the first time. I’m a big Golden State Warriors fan, so playing in Chase Center will be something special.”

Noah expressed his approval of Ruud’s return: “Casper is a great competitor who brings experience, passion and composure to the team environment,” said Noah. “He understands the spirit of the Laver Cup and is exactly the kind of player you want by your side. I’m delighted he’s back.”

Team World will be captained by eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi for the first time this year. Their lineup includes Americans Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, as well as Brazilian Joao Fonseca; two additional players are expected to be named before the US Open.

The Laver Cup features six men’s tennis players from Europe competing against six from other parts of the world over three days on a black court surface. The host city alternates between Europe and elsewhere each year. All six team members must participate in singles matches during either of the first two days but no more than twice across all three days; at least four must play doubles matches as well. Points per match increase throughout: one point on Friday matches, two points on Saturday matches, three points on Sunday matches; thirteen points secures victory for one side.

This marks both San Francisco’s and Chase Center’s debut hosting major tennis competition during an edition that brings top global talent to California’s U.S West Coast venue—home court for NBA champions Golden State Warriors and WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries.
