Maria Timofeeva secured her first tournament win in two years by defeating Alina Korneeva 6-3, 6-0 in the final of the W100 Figueira da Foz event. Timofeeva, who previously won a title at the WTA Budapest 250 in July 2023, did not drop a set throughout the week and lost no more than three games in any set during her run from qualifying.
The Russian player reached a career-high ranking of world No. 93 in 2024. Following a period where her ranking dropped, she has now returned to the top 200 and is preparing for US Open qualifying later this year. With this latest victory, Timofeeva has accumulated seven career titles, six of which are on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
In another event, Caty McNally claimed her second consecutive title at W100 Evansville by beating Darja Vidmanova 7-5, 6-4 in the final. McNally also did not lose a set during the tournament and continues her strong performance after winning at WTA Newport 125 earlier in July. The American player is currently on a ten-match winning streak as the US hard court season begins.
