Stefanos Tsitsipas and coach Goran Ivanisevic have ended their professional relationship, the Greek tennis player announced on Instagram.
“Working with Goran Ivanisevic was brief but an intense experience and a truly valuable chapter in my journey,” Tsitsipas shared in his Instagram story. “I’m thankful for the time, effort and energy he dedicated to me and my team.”
The 26-year-old athlete, who dropped out of the Top 20 of the PIF ATP Rankings in June, has achieved a season record of 19 wins and 13 losses. His most notable achievement this year was winning a title in Dubai. Ivanisevic joined Tsitsipas’ team after Roland Garros, accompanying him to tournaments in Halle and Wimbledon.
“As we are now following our separate ways, I have only respect for Goran — not just for what he’s achieved in tennis, but also for who he is as a person,” Tsitsipas stated. “I wish him nothing but the very best moving forward.”
Tsitsipas has faced challenges maintaining consistent performance this year. He retired from his last match at Wimbledon due to a back injury while trailing Frenchman Valentin Royer 6-3, 6-2. This setback followed disappointing performances at other major tournaments; he exited early from both the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
Currently ranked 24th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, Tsitsipas is scheduled to compete next at the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers in Toronto starting July 27. He aims to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals for a sixth time; he previously won this event in 2019.
