Wta highlights Cirstea’s historic run at Iasi Open and Yastremska’s win in Hamburg

Sorana Cirstea has become the first Romanian player to reach the semifinals at the Iasi Open WTA 250, according to a post by wta on July 18, 2025. The tweet states: “Breaking new ground on home soil Sorana Cirstea is the first-ever Romanian semifinalist at Iasi Open WTA 250, with Begu and Cristian also looking to book their places today #IasiOpen https://t.co/kmwsXTimw5”.

On the same day, wta reported Dayana Yastremska’s progress in Hamburg. In a tweet posted at 14:31 UTC, wta wrote: “Semifinal booked Dayana Yastremska defeats Galfi 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals in Hamburg. #HamburgLadiesOpen https://t.co/nODcq3vltC”. Shortly after, another update reiterated Yastremska’s achievement: “In the zone Dayana Yastremska advances to the Hamburg semifinals by overcoming Galfi 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-2. #HamburgLadiesOpen https://t.co/Nz1I4PuWsN”.

The Iasi Open is part of the WTA 250 series and takes place in Romania, offering local players an opportunity to compete on home courts. Sorana Cirstea’s advancement marks a milestone for Romanian tennis at this event.
